Terms of Service
Last updated 19 October 2026
The short version: be decent, list real gigs, and don’t use Gigmates to rip anyone off.
Gigmates (“we”, “us”) is an independent gig guide and booking board for Australian cities, run by a sole trader based in Sydney, NSW. By using gigmates.com.au you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
Who can use Gigmates
Anyone can browse. To create an account you need to be 16 or older (if you’re under 18, check with a parent or guardian first). You’re responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything done through your account.
Listings and content
Bands, organisers and venues can add gigs, profiles, photos, links and messages. When you post something:
- it must be accurate and yours to share (or you have permission)
- it must not be misleading, defamatory, hateful, illegal or spam
- you keep ownership, and you give us a free, non-exclusive licence to show it on Gigmates and in things that promote Gigmates (like social posts about a gig)
Some gigs are added by us from public sources (venue sites, ticket pages, band sites) and credited on the listing. If one of them is yours, use “Claim it” on the listing and we’ll check and hand it over. We can edit, hide or remove anything that breaks these terms or looks wrong.
Gig info is a guide
We work hard to keep listings right, but gigs change: set times move, prices change, shows sell out or get cancelled. Always check with the venue or ticket seller before you head out. Tickets bought from other sellers (for example Moshtix, Oztix, Ticketek or a venue’s own site) are between you and that seller.
Bookings, quotes and hire
Gigmates helps organisers, bands and venues find each other and agree a deal. The agreement for a gig or a room hire is between the people involved. We’re not the band, the venue or the organiser, and we’re not responsible for whether a booked act or space turns up as agreed, though we’ll help where we can if something goes wrong.
Paid plans and fees
Some features cost money (see Pricing). Prices are in Australian dollars and are always shown before you pay. Paid plans run for the period you choose and can be cancelled any time; you keep the features until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Refunds are covered in our Tickets & refunds policy. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Venue and studio listings: $29.99/month or $299.99/year (billed for the period you choose). Gigmates takes no commission on hires and charges no other fees: hirers pay the venue or studio directly, and that payment is between them.
Organiser plans: a basic organiser page is free. Organiser is $29.99/month or $299.99/year; Organiser Pro is $39.99/month or $399.99/year (billed for the period you choose). Organiser plans are flat: Gigmates charges no booking fee or commission on artist bookings or hire.
Don’t misuse the site
- no scraping, bulk downloading or automated sign-ups
- no trying to break, overload or get around the security of the site
- no pretending to be a band, venue or person you’re not
- no using contact details from Gigmates to send spam
Ending your account
You can stop using Gigmates and ask us to delete your account any time via the contact page. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
Liability
We provide Gigmates “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by listings, other users or third-party sites we link to. Where our liability can’t be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, it’s limited to re-supplying the service or refunding what you paid us for it.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when. If a change is significant we’ll flag it on the site. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
